Op 9 augustus heeft VS-Staatssecretaris Colin Powell de Communistische
Partij van de Filippijnen (CPP) en het Nieuwe Volksleger (NPA) opnieuw
het label ‘Foreign Terrorist Organization’ opgeplakt. Voor de VS, daarin
gevolgd door de Europese Unie, zal de Filippijnse revolutie maar ophouden
"terroristisch" te zijn, als ze… ophoudt te bestaan.

In a rally in front of the US Embassy this morning, the militant
labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) strongly registered that if the Arroyo
government was able to stand against US demand to maintain the Philippine
troops in Iraq for the safety of Angelo dela Cruz, then the government
should all the more oppose US impositions for the good of the country.

We, concerned human rights activists, lawyers, community organizers
and members of organizations working in solidarity with Third World peoples,
condemn the unabated attacks of U.S. imperialism against the human rights
and civil liberties of Professor Jose Maria Sison. We condemn these attacks
not only because they infringe on his rights as an individual, but also
because we find them all the more reprehensible as they are only one part
of U.S. imperialism’s offensive against the genuine right of oppressed
peoples to struggle for national and social liberation. more...
